FAQ

How did you come up with this idea? As a publicist, I have access to updated lists for the bands that we work. When I looked around at the press lists out there and realized that either they were incomplete or just outdated. So, I decided to compile our lists into one and update what we had. That is The Virtual Publicist we have today. In the future, we plan on extending the list to include all genres of music as well as a gofer service for when bands are touring and they need specific lists for specific cities.

Who are you? The Virtual Publicist project has been spearheaded by the team at Rainmaker Public Relations with over 12 years of independent pr experience having worked with over 800 bands, musicians, record labels throughout the US, Europe, Indonesia, Australia, South America and China.

How do I download the files? Go to The Shopping Cart and follow the directions. Once you have paid, you will receive an e-mail with the instructions regarding downloading your excel work sheet and your labels. The labels are formatted for Avery labels #5160. Your link to download the list will be active for 3 days after purchase.

What can I do with the Excel spreadsheet? The spreadsheet has all of the info that the labels have plus an e-mail address. There is also a column to the left to check off once you have sent the press kit and cd out so that you have a record of where your cd went.

What types of payment do you accept? We accept all major credit cards.

What happens if a package gets returned? Please let us know immediately so that we can find out why.

What do I use for a press kit when sending out cds? We suggest you use your Sonicbids EPK one sheet. Or you can outsource a writer. E-mail us and we will send you a list of affordable writers.

After I send out my press kit, how long should I wait to do follow-up? Once you have looked over the press list and determined where you want to send your cd, we suggest that you e-mail the reviews editor to let them know you are sending a cd for review consideration. After sending out your press kit, wait about 2-3 weeks and send a follow-up e-mail.

How will I know if I have been reviewed? The easiest way is to do a search for magazines and webzines. Most sites will post reviews and upcoming reviews on their site.
